Has been spawned in the aquarium. A breeding group of 12 specimens was kept in a small aquarium decorated with fine sand, wood rocks and cryptocorynes, anubias and Java fern. The fish were conditioned using dry and frozen foods with the occasional live food added. Spawning occurred on the glass of the aquarium and approximately 60 greenish eggs were produced. The male guards the eggs. Hatching after 60-80 hours at 25oC the fry have a huge yolk sac. After 100 hours the egg sac is virtually gone and feeding can commence. In this reported spawn the fry were provided with dust sized flake food, live micro eels and newly hatched Artemia. Unfortunately 1 week after becoming free swimming the fry started to die off, apparently through starvation so it appears the above is not a suitable diet for them.
Water parameters of the breeding tank were, 25°C, 3°dGH,0-1°dKH; pH 6.0 and conductivity 150uS/cm.

After almost two years i can say they like frozen/thawed collard greens and decap bbs eggs the best.
Once established they are easy to keep.
