| Etymology | Eugit, a village in Southern Somalia and glanis, Greek for Catfish. In honour of the collector, an Italian army officer, Major Vittorio Tedesco Zammarano, who collected the first specimens. |

| General Remarks | Four collection points are known, quite distant from one another(about 130 km between Manas and Siggia) suggest the species habitat is a wide and continuous underground hydrographic system, with tunnels, fissures and cavities. |

| Feeding | Stenasellus pardii, a stygobitic isopod is thought to be the principal resource for wild fish. |
| Breeding | Unreported. In the wild, reproduction is thought to occur between January and March, a period characterized by a hot dry climate, females with well developed ovaries were collected only in March from a well in Manas. |
