| Identification | As in Parancistrus and Spectracanthicus, Oligancistrus also has the rear of the dorsal fin connected to the adipose fin ray. Oligancistrus differ from these two genera in being slender, having smaller gill slits and have a naked belly. Very similar to L030, also from the Xingu, but this species differs in having no spots on the face. |
