| Identification | Scorpiodoras liophysus can be distinguished from S. calderonensis and S. heckelii by having a simple, cordiform, gas bladder (vs. gas bladder having a secondary bladder) and midlateral scute depth 61–72% of body depth (vs. 33–59%). Scorpiodoras liophysus can also be differentiated from S. heckelii by having relatively small eye, diameter 58–77% of interorbital width (vs. relatively large eye, diameter 91–129% of interorbital width). |
