| Sexing | Male hypoptopomins posses a urogenital papilla located immediately posterior to the anus. It is absent in females. |
| General Remarks | Imported from Paraguay. This little fellow is known in German as the "Kleiner Brauner Oto" (little brown oto) or KBO for short! |

| Distribution | Known only from two localities on the left tributaries of the Rio Paraguay: The Rio Piribebuy near Eusebio Ayala and the Rio Aquaray near Lima, San Pedro, Paraguay. |

| Furniture | Collected among marginal vegetation mainly formed by hanging grasses. Also among floating water hyacinths. |
