| Identification | The pictures here show the range of colour this fish can exhibit. Typically it is dull charcoal black with a tinge of blue. The fish appears to belong to an undescribed genus characterised by the fused dorsal and adipose fins. |

| Feeding | Herbivore wafers, rarely carnivore wafers and frozen food. |
| Breeding | One spawning is reported as follows: The male guards the brood in a cave. Male was greater than 100 mm in size. Female was about 90 mm in size. The clutch had about 12 eggs. Survival of eggs/fry was poor, only 4 fry survived. The spawn occurred in the following water parameters: Temperature 28°C, pH: 6.0 - 7.0 NO3: < 10 mg/l KH: <2 °dH, GH: <3 °dH Conductivity: 210 - 240 µS/cm |
