Type Locality	East side of Nyika bay, North side of Nkumbulu Island, Zambia Lake Tanganyika.
Etymology	The latin alba meaning white, and the noun operculum, meanng lid or cover, in reference to the distinctive depigmented posterior margin seen in the operculum of this species.
Species Information
Size	160mm (6.3") SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification	Uniformly light to dark brown, lighter on the belly. All fins with brownish bases and narrow, depigmented border, this border being wider in younger fish. Operculum with wide, depigmented margin which extends onto underside of head.
Sexing	In ventral view especially, females are much broader in the body than males of equal age and rearing practices.
Habitat Information
Distribution	Lake Tanganyika, Lake wide distribution.
Husbandry Information
Feeding	Stomachs of three specimen combined, contained, fish eggs, crab remains and insect larvae.
Furniture	In the wild likely to inhabit rocky bottoms at a range of depths.
