Common Name
Type Locality Affluents from Jaraguá mountains, near Joinville, 26°21'S, 48°49'W, Santa Catarina State, Brazil.
Synonym(s) Corydoras meridionalis
Pronunciation kor ee doh rass (lineage six). - err HART eye
Etymology Cory = helmet, doras = skin. In this case it was incorrectly used to mean armour (cuirasse) instead of skin in allusion to the dual rows of plates that run along the flanks of this genus. Named to honour Mr. W. Ehrhardt.
