Re: Is this Platydoras armatulus fry?

This is the one I found later (about 3 cm now). The first and smaller one is still under 2 cm long. http://koti.mbnet.fi/moskari1/monnit/akvaariot2009/okapoikanen060409.jpg The weekly water changes (50-60%) make the male very active. He dug a ~10x10cm pit to the sand in his cave immediately after th...

I'm not sure if there was a Hoplosternum bubble nest when the spawning happened.

The male bites and chases the female and sometimes the fishes swim circle when the female goes into male's cave.

Phoxinus, could you PLease, Please tell exactly EVERYTHING there is to know about their tank? Of course. The dimensions of the 420-liter aquarium are 130cm x 61cm (height) x 53cm (width). There are two filters: Eheim 2228 canister filter (1050l/h) and a mat filter with Eheim Aquaball pump (600l/h) ...

Black mutant Corydoras sterbai

I wanted to show you this black colour variant of Corydoras sterbai. This 3,5cm long fish is three months old. The strange thing is it has grown about 50% faster than the normal colour variants from the same batch. Both eyes are weakly developed. I don't know if this one is a result of inbred parent...

I bought seven fishes that were sold under the name Lepthoplosternum pectorale. Do you agree with this identification? Many thanks.

Is this Platydoras armatulus fry?

Hi I found this little catfish (~1cm) swimming in my 120-liter Hoplosternum littorale fry raising tank. I have a pair of Raphael catfishes (Platydoras armatulus) in my main tank (420liters). I believe this small one is a baby Raphael catfish? Another possibility is Banjo catfish (Bunocephalus) fry? ...

At the age of two weeks they are clearly miniature littorales. They have started to gulp air from the surface.

The fry are now one week old. They are about one cm long and have dark vertical stripes on their flanks. They have a very good appetite like their parents. http://koti.mbnet.fi/moskari1/monnit/akvaariot2009/rantamonnit1vk1.jpg http://koti.mbnet.fi/moskari1/monnit/akvaariot2009/rantamonnit1vk3.jpg

Re: My Hoplosternum littorale spawned again 27-4-08

My H. littorales spawned today. I put a large ketapang tree leaf into the tank. The male quickly picked it up and transported to his nest. Soon the fishes spawned and the female stuck eggs on the surface of the leaf. When they finished spawning, I removed the nest and took the eggs still attached to...

No success so far. The male littorale built two bubble nests, but the female didn't lay eggs there. However, here is a video about H. littorale building a nest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eed4hETJOLg

Here are some pictures of my Hoplosternum littorales. I got them two days ago and the male has already built a floating nest. He has gathered a huge pile of java moss and pieces of plants. The diameter of the nest is approximately 20 centimeters and the height is about 5 cm. The nest is filled with ...

My colleague has so far managed to raise seven punctatums, but once they have started to spawn, they have done it many times and nothing seems to stop them spawning..

Here is a short youtube video of the punctatum reproduction:
