Well, guys, how about this? I posted a similar thread a couple of days ago. I have two sets of fish very similar to the one on the right, but I think the fish I have are c. brevirostris and agassizii this one is brevirostris as far as I know, the patch is definitely gold and they have a definite bla...
New guys
Hi all - as promised in an earlier post, pics of muh new dawgs. I actually indulged myself completely here, went out and bought a new 10G special for a dozen new rarities (for these parts anyway), 4 c. julii, 4 c. arcuatus, and 4 c. "Punctatious" [sic]. I am beginning to suspect as they co...

Hi all - well I hate to be the voice of dissent but . . . I have two full grown male albino bristlenose in a 33 gallon tank which as the previous post mentioned is full of various algae and rotting vegetation although I do try to keep it clean. They share the tank with a horde of platys I would love...

regarding the chlorine, I personally never use dechlorinator. . . . but I also have several species of corys and a few pl*cos. Gee whiz if I did that all my fish would be dead on the first water change except maybe the big tank with enough water in it to buffer out the chlorine over the 20 minutes ...

Hi
Hi Heather - welcome to the forum! As for algae, is there sunlight hitting your tank? That's a great way to grow algae

As for vegetation, what kind of lighting arrangement do you have? Probably the best bet for a hardy plant that grows well in low-medium light is a java fern (microsorum pteropus), they propagate themselves and the new little 'plantlets' can be plucked and replanted, I'd also suggest the similarly na...

Well then Firestar, FYI I got my 10 pygmies at PJ's at Kingsway, about a year ago. I did lose one pretty much right away, but the rest are happy and healthy in a 5 gallon tank along with 3 c. panda. You can check with the Aquarium Club (ACE), also Dad's Fish Room at 81st Ave and 99th Street often ha...

There was an article or something I saw in the newspaper last year about a boy who was attacked by a pike and need a lot of stiches. Well just for reference sake, here's one of my 'spotted' corys, I believe positively ID'ed as c. brevirostris, also known as c. wortoi, that is unless I'm way off? The spot pattern is completely different, as you will see . . . I have 6 of these guys, picture doesn't do justice, but the pale stripe ...

If I may, what I have not seen mentioned here is that for CO2 to be really effective the lighting must be adequate also, to the point that the plants can actually use it. All the nice Amano tanks you see have brilliant lights - see Oliver Knott's site for some examples of really nice planted tanks a...

I'll second MatsP - none of my two dozen or so cories seem to like veggies much, they will eat algae wafers but seem to disdain zucchini. My clown loaches like it, though, and of course the albino bristlenose are in like a dirty shirt. For everyday feeding, I use carnivore pellets, all the cories se...
