Re: Successful Corydoras eques spawn

Mexnotex,

Congratulations! Thanks for the detailed explanation of what you did. I was confused, however, by one line in your report, this line:

"I mentioned to a friend that came by and visit, and he ditched the idea."

What idea was ditched?

I have had some, for years They spawned once, in mops of black yarn. Few of the eggs hatched, however. No idea what the trigger was.

CW097 fry

My CW097 have been spawning frequently lately, especially when I stick a powerhead in their tank. Here's a video of the fry (from several different spawns) chowing down!

Re: London Plane: is it aquarium safe?

I've been using Sycamore leaves in my tanks for several years now, simply to provide more variation to the leaf litter look. Agree with Darrel that the leaves do not add much by way of tannins. They do, as Darrel noted, last much longer than similar-looking maple leaves (I get the occasional in wit...

Re: London Plane: is it aquarium safe?

Hi all, Good to know! We just had a London Plane tree planted in front of our house last fall. I’ve been meaning to experiment with the bark. I've never been to the United States but from the little bit of research I did yesterday it seems that even with you London Plane is planted much more widely...

Re: 123 or not

C123 are very similar to elegans, and are sometimes referred to as an elegans-type Corydoras. So it’s not surprising that the fish are similar except for the yellow fins.

Re: Feeding Repashy

I only feed my fish Repashy. So that means every day, although I do have one day a week in which I don't feed. Repashy is an excellent food source to feed on a daily basis. You can switch between different formulas if you want to make it more interesting for yourself. Repashy contains high quality ...

Re: Weird question: Hiding blackworms

Hi Quokka, True, I save blackworms in the fridge in an open box with 2" water. But if you can't do that, then you can leave the worms in the bag, closed with a rubber band. Rinse the worms with fresh water when you first buy them, and leave the fish in the bag covered by at least 1/2" wat...

I’ve used the food, but in a smaller size. It sank quite readily. I would think the bigger pellets would sink even more quickly.

What are these Corydoras?

Found today at a LFS with some C. trilineatus. I’ve never seen this species before. Spotted pattern around the head, with a bluish-gray blotch neat the tail.

This fish came in a group of Corydoras C123. The other fish all look like C123 , but this one doesn't. It resembles CW078, to my eye. Is it a CW078? Or is a C123 variant? https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/uoSk0MCbJMMpTGRZqmnvs0Dt_K72g2vxfGkP7d2ErJXAD3tMCQaJ2HWXU4EXEzAymM9OgcqhLUyBp0mPh2FwWCpjf5ZNw9K...

Re: Corydoras and Sewellia compatibility

I don’t have experience, but I’d think the flow you’d need all the time for the Sewellia would be more than most Corydoras could tolerate, at least on a continuous basis. For that reason, I’ve not bought any Sewellia.

But I’d like to hear about actual experience, too.

Re: Prefilter yes or no?

I use sponge prefilters on my canisters. Like TwoTankAdmin said, use coarse foam and clean it frequently. I’ve converted most of my tanks to mattenfilters, though. You do need to watch those, though, even if driven by air. The lifters can get clogged, very occasionally. Also, I’ve had some mulm buil...
