C panda and S barbatus as roomies

I'm just getting ready to enter the hobby again and of course want my 2 favorite catfish, C. panda and S. barbatus. I'm starting over totally so will have just one tank to start with, a 20 long. In anyone's experiences, are these compatible tank mates?

Re: Moving a clutch of eggs

They're definitely BN eggs, large and orange, and dad was guarding them somewhat. I guess they don't like the way I set the tank up after I moved, which I'll try to fix.

Moving a clutch of eggs

Discovered my BNs had spawned overnight, some eggs on the heater and some on the glass right next to the heater. I moved the eggs into a net breeder, but didn't get dad. I should have asked before moving them, but was this the right thing to do? Should dad be in there?

Suicidal corys

I am having issues with corys swimming into the lifter tubes of sponge filters and need suggestions on how to prevent this. The first was a panda before I moved; I found that one in time, but today I woke up to find 2 loxozonus dead in the quarantine tank's tube. For now I've taken the tubes off in ...

Re: Moving Brooding BN

Only thing in there right now are the BN pair, 4 corys, and a betta - who could eat fry I imagine The betta got moved to that tank when I cut back on my fish and closed down the other tank (10g) he was in as I prepared to move. Obviously I wasn't expecting any breeding behavior. I haven't seen anyth...

Re: Moving Brooding BN

Well, the male came out of the cup and I caught the female in there briefly. I can't see signs of fry/eggs now so must have died if there was anything. Makes it easier to move at least though babies would have been nice.

Re: Moving Brooding BN

Thats it, I have no idea whats in there. The position of the cup makes it impossible to get a good view, especially with daddy in there. I guess I'll just try for the best. Maybe I'll move them to my 10g and transport it half full

Re: Moving Brooding BN

The move is only 10 miles or so. The cup doesnt have a bottom, instead its rim is buried in the gravel so I have to figure a way to lift it from the tank to begin with. If I separated the male from the cup just for the move, what would happen when I tried to rejoin them?

Moving Brooding BN

Hi all. It appears I'm going to be moving around the first of October. I reduced my fishload by getting rid of many, but I have a young pair of BN left. From what I can tell the male hasn't left a broken cup in 10-14 days though he does move around in it. I already plan to take a bucket of tank wate...

Re: Albino panda corys

It was a true white, not a faded black/gray, but it has since died. It always had been littler than the other two, but had seemed healthy enough. I had bought from a store, in 2 different batches. Of course, no clue which ones were the parents.

Re: Albino panda corys

Sorry for bringing up such an old thread, but it fits my situation. A while ago, I found some eggs not eaten yet so transferred them to a net breeder. All for hatched, but one has since disappeared (dead I assume). The other 3 seem healthy but while 2 already look like pandas, one is missing the mar...

Most likely it would be a specific injury or erosion against rough surfaces and poor water condition.

Re: Is my cory ok?

Okay I'm not an expert, others will add more and correct me where I'm wrong, but I'll give it a shot. I think Dolly is basically acting like a normal cory, though I've never kept her species myself. Mine often will spiral or shoot up to the surface and then sink down. Corys should have a bit of a ro...

Re: Finally got some Scleromystax barbatus!!!

I can't help you there. They ate everything put in the tank, but I didn't have a BN then so don't know if they'd eat something just vegetable. O-nips are tablets that stick to the side of the tank. It was quite a sight to see 8 S barbatus and 6 C pandas all trying to eat from it at once.

Re: Finally got some Scleromystax barbatus!!!

I fed mine shrimp pellets daily and Sera O-Nips once a week. They were absolutely wild for the O-Nips. As for the dimorphism, mine weren't old enough (I think) when I traded them for C pandas and a few other things.

T2 lighting !

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these. They aren't something I've seen much about, but they might be my solution for good lighting within my budget. If I were to get these, which wattage would be deemed suitable for a 29g (30x12x18) for a low-tech tank? I was looking at this site: ...

For test kit, I use API; I don't know the equivalent in UK. MTS stands for Malaysian Trumpet Snail. They like to burrow through sand and keep it loose and without pockets anaerobic bacteria can grow in.

Its hard to tell, but at least some of it looks like it has rounded edges. Try rubbing some in your palms and see how it feels.
