saying it straight (I'm not so big in the "politically correct" departyment): that owner should do some serious reading about fishkeeping and lessen his own sheer stubborness...... he's still insisting on combining fish that will be a recipe for disaster later on. The owner knows a lot ab...

Well, tank is 80% sure it will happen! And Synodontis multipunctatus, eupterus, petricola and Syno sp. "polli" just became available. However the owner is still leaning towards a smaller group of multis in order to add a group of Clown loaches and perhaps some Angelicus. As far as the cich...

If he is keeping the tank as a discus keeper should(daily water changes in a barebottom tank), then it is not overcrowded in the bio mass department. However, it is overcrowded ...

Synodontis petricola or multipunctatus, or both, would be fine. They are both schooling species, and will be more active and visible in groups. The larger the group/s, the more active and visible they will be. Regarding the stocking list, it looks like a recipe for disaster. If the mbuna and peacoc...

Catfish for a display tank?

IF I play my cards and can finally convince the store owner right I might have the opportunity to set up an 8'x2.5'x3' tank for African cichlids. So far the fish list has a colony of Frontosa, Electric Yellow, Electric Blue, a collection of peacocks, some pseudotropheus, calvus and Orange leleupis, ...

Very nice work! If that background came without the image of any plants and you used round river stones(like the ones in the pic) instead of the DIY caves it woul be a close representation of a biotope, notice how in some of the pics the plecos are hanging in the background.
Again, very nice work!

I've done something similar except in a 48" x 48" by 18" tank. I think the Lima will be fine if provided with enough hidding places, at least for when is young, (I used tons of wood similar to it) but don't know about the pictus

In my case the Oscar did not last for a month!

Unless the tank is going to be use as reef tank or full of slate you don't have to worry so much on the rim.

New silicone won't bond to old so you'll have to change it on the whole tank..

Thanks Janne! It seems you read my mind. The L260 was going into one of my 30's, so I can slowly build up a small colony. I have plans to either set up a 3 feet 50 gallon or another pond for L-200 ( If my LFS decides to work with me and get more than one) and the L-147 I haven't decided yet. Anyway,...

Ive bought into the idea. Running to the store (I'love the fact thay itis 2min walking). While we're at it, is $30 good for a shark fin L200 and $46 for a L260 and will they coexist with L147 in a tank with alot of river rocks and caves.

I can't express how happy you guys made me.

That is Mr. Takashi Amano's "green with envy" tank. You should see the pics of the setting up process, absolutly amazing. If I'm not mistaken those are 2-3 big pieces of wood instead of dozens of pieces.BTW look closely for the Altums.

Lately I've pondering starting a tank to house the fishes that I thought I will never be able to keep ( 2 or 3 discus a possible Gold nugget and corys).
