Re: L273 - Breeding group, what mix?
Not when u raise them from 10cm, but with adults I would put a pair in a tank. If I would have two pairs, I would use two tanks.

Chopped mussels, artemia, mysis. You can also try several other pellet foods, shrimp pellets etc. Do you have any pictures of the fish?

My thoughts, keep it simple, 1 male 1 female or 1m 2f.

Re: 1-1.5 inch L25 pleco hard to raise?
They are indeed sensitive, certainly to small for a community tank. Also I agree with Jim that if u would have more pieces they have a better chance. I've got several 1-2 inch L25 growing up at the moment. They stay together all the time.

Re: male or female? L25
First one is a female, second is on this point en male. I'm looking at the head and body shape, if the head is broader them the belly it's a male. But this only my theory if the mustache and the odontodal growth on the pectorial fins are not visible yet. good luck, Walter My thoughts are the same, ...

Hello Elwood,Elwood wrote:Frank, can I ask you wich river first fish came from? Cause I have had the same L025 with few spot and I never discovered if it really came from Xingu as the full spotted type.
I don't know from which river this fish is. I'm curious too which area it's from.

Re: Baryancistrus demantoides?
Just a curiousity thing for me, as I am planning to get some. Which of the two speices is easier to keep? I thought most barys are harder to keep alive than hemis? I have very little experience with either group of fish, but the avacado body would look phenominal in my most recent tank set-up and i...

I've bought my L95 when they were 10-12cm. They had the same colourpattern as adults. From your pictures I can not Id them. Take a look at this thread and you clearly see which are and which aren't L95. http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=36126&p=246546&hilit=L95#p2465...

Very nice congratulations.
What do you feed them and on what temperature do you keep them?
Maybe you should try L25 or L273.

Re: Small L25 diet
U should give them some time to get used to the new home. Artemia, chopped mussel should work pretty good. Also algea wafers or shrimp pellets are very good.
My 4 inch L25 was really shy in the beginning and I didn't saw him eat at all. Now he comes out a lot more and eats very well.

Fish 1 and 3 look like males to me, Fish 4 female and fish 2 my guess would also be female.
The tank is too small. These fish can be very aggressive towards each other.

Based on the headshapes the first 2 could be female and the last one male. But you should let them grow a little bit more and then decide.

Today I was at a shop and they had a L95, the eyes were a little white and pale. My own L95 has really dark black eyes the same as pictures I came across at the Internet. I told the shopowner that my thoughts about the eyes and he did not really respond. Are the white/pale eyes an indication from si...
