They look like encysted metacercariae to me.

It seems every one of our Rainbow Cichlids on display is male, we could do with one or more females to try to give them an outlet for their raging hormones.

I can think of others that have a similar distribution, Salminus is one genus that springs to mind, gymnocharacine and stevardine tetras, there's another characid genus that I can't quite recall.

Does anybody feed banana peel to their plecos? I ran a forum search and only found banana peels mentioned for worm colonies. Thanks, Eric In "normal" sized aquaria, they degrade too quickly and the sugars seem to encourage heavy bacterial growth in filters which can lead to clogging issue...

I disagree with the assessment of the conservation status, that should be Data Deficient (DD). I don't believe it's reasonable to state that it's of Least Concern (LC) given what was already known about the type locality at the time of collection.

I use a turkey baster and really give them a hammering, sucking them up and forcefully squirting them out, but sometimes I have ended up using a needle and scalpel blade under low magnification.

Moved three males into a display tank couple of weeks ago, thought they'd be fairly shy and retiring but they're out at the front competing with the neons and bleeding blues, look great, the reflective spot on the abdomen is really glowing.

Great info, thanks. Once you see what they do it all seems rather obvious. If you get the chance at any point for detailed pictures of the adults side-by-side to clearly show sexual dimporphism it'd be most appreciated. Is this aquarium exposed to natural light?
