Any chance on better resolution or quality. IMO, that's not a Cory. I'm not familiar enough with other Calycthidae, so maybe someone else will be able to help

Re: Is it possible to ID this cory?
A better pic would be needed for a positive ID, but you can start comparing to Corydoras habrosus or Corydoras paleatus . The latter being pretty easy to spawn, so there's a good chance it's eggs were in the plants you picked up. The former is a dwarf species and could have been hiding in the plants...

Re: Malaysian trumpet snails - any thoughts?
I put a few in every tank I have that has a sand substrate. I prefer a few extra snails (I agree with Jools, they do mulitply quickly) to pockets of noxious gas. There are a few catfish that will eat them: most Synodontis spp. and are ones that I've owned that eat them.

My Cory. paleatus longfins breed true. I got a reverse trio from someone shutting down their tank, and have never seen a normal-fin offspring; lots of long-fins, tho!

Looks like a scud or Gammarus shrimp. Sometimes they're frozen in packs of bloodworms. There are a few little critters that can survive freezing that show up with commercial frozen foods.

Re: Air Pumps & PH
I don't think oxygen replaces CO2, I think their relative concentrations are independent I don't think that's quite accurate since the partial pressures of all the dissolved gases in a fluid are interrelated. So having higher O2 and other gases will affect how much CO2 may be dissolved in a fluid. ...

IMO, they need to be fattened up a bit to be sure, but I would guess the first one to be a male. The others not so sure.

Re: Bristlenose Breeding and some questions.
The easiest way I used to make a vertical spawning cave is to put a piece of PVC into a small clay pot, then pour sand in the pot around the outside of the tube. Fill the pot right to the top with sand, and the tube should stay put. Point the output of the filter or a powerhead across the top and it...

My L91 eat snails all the time; however, they don't really put a dent in the snail population. After the lights have been out for about an hour, I still see hundreds of MTS in the tank.

Re: removing eggs
I would wait until they hatch and siphon them out when they're still wrigglers - they don't hold on very tight. Like mentioned by others, I'd think you'd probably damage a lot of the eggs if you were to siphon them out now.

Re: Combining l 128 and l 200
@Shane (and everyone else) I think when people talk about these hybridising they are thinking L200 as the hemiancistrus subviridis not L200 hi-fin Baryancistrus Demantoides. As far as i'm aware L128 still could be H.subviridis, so if they are they wouldn't be hybrids per se but a cross of different...

hi, I ordered an L264 from another state. It will be shipped overnight in Dec. This thread got me wondering how long it takes for Chilodonella to show up on the fish ? I will be putting him in the q-tank, assumed 2 weeks was enough, but after reading of this parasite, is 2 weeks enough ? How long b...

Re: Bristlenose Plecos
The first fish looks like a clown pleco (Panaque maccus); the rest are BN Plecos. I'm not really sure what "green dragon" is, but I'd say that you definitely have a pair of BNs - mature females often have bristles around the end of their nose, but never up their face like a male.

at what size/age do they start to show that? looking back at some older groups I had (pictures of), the yellow does seem to show up in most females. My females L127 definately had the yellow. IME, it starts to show up around sexual maturity. In pretty much every pleco I've spawned (meaning, I haven...

If you look around the vent of the females, most have some yellow coloration. I find this to be a lot more evident on females that have sp...

I have a 10gal tank about 50% filled with moss that has breeding groups of both C. hastatus and Galaxy Rasboras. Neither population is exploding, but both are slowly growing. I'm sure if each were in it's own species tank, or if the tank they were in was bigger, they'd do a lot better... or maybe, I...

Going to have to redo the 75 again as those damn MTS destroyed the black layer. If you're mixing sands, you'll never keep the layers separate with MTS (Malaysian Trumpet Snails, for those unfamiliar with the acronym). That black sand you saw in my tanks is about 3 parts Playsand and 1 part black sa...

Looks like 7 albino to me. If we look at simple Mendelian genetics, if two parents carrying a recessive albino gene are mated, around 1/4 of the spawn (like yours, here) will show the albino trait. Seems you just got lucky getting 2 parents carrying the albino gene! If albinism in L333 follows Mende...

Lukan, I still haven't been able to get eggs to hatch from the fish I got from you - the "Lower Xingu" have spawned a couple times, but no fry as of yet. I haven't really put the angelicus to the task - they have their own tank, but it's not really set up right for them, yet. Jenn, I think...

I know they're not all that similar, but I've had success artificially hatching L349 by putting the eggs that were kicked out into a breeder net with the outflow of a Hang On Tank filter going right into the net. I've tried other methods, but find that this high flow is required. I also put an almon...

I don't test the water, but only use dechlorinated tap water. Out of the tap the pH is about 7.8 and around 200-250ppm TDS. Temp is 26 or so - probably a little warm for them long-term, but it's as cool as I can get it in my shop.

I moved the group to their own tank - turns out to be 3M/3F. They're currently in a 24"x12" footprint - about 25 US gallons - with a few caves and a large(ish) HOB filter. I placed the dominant male's favorite cave under the outflow of the HOB and it didn't take him long to take up residen...

I agree with most other posts. FB is like heading to 7/11 or corner convenience store - a quick trip to get a basic need met; however, PC is more like heading to a fine restaurant - you're not just going to be satisfied, but you'll KNOW you're getting top quality info.
