Re: L46 WANTED SCOTLAND

Hi I was in Maidenhead aquatics in Coatbridge yesterday (Inside the big MacKinnon Mills outlet place) and they had some for sale for £165 each. They did look quite small though, but they looked healthy. I don't know if this is any use to you. You could also try giving Godfrey a phone at Aquascene in...

Re: Breeding Hybrid Synos?

If you read more carefully/fully, you will see it is Richard B who got that syno, which, in turn, should get you even more excited as it was in UK, not the home country of Birger - Canada. 8-} I know. Richard B p.md me which made me realise my mistake.....doh I'm now, however, on the case, and hope...

There are hybrids galore out there but if you search them out, there are some genuine beauties to be had. Eg today i picked up a 2" synodontis robertsi I was told to forget ever owning one of these... :-Q :-Q If you dont mind me asking Birger....Whereja gettim, was he expensive, and finally, ca...

If that LFS is Aquascene in Airdrie, then I believe those fishes are captive bred and being imported from the Czech Republic.

I've been watching him like a hawk for a few weeks now Birger, the wee guy has had it tough of late and to be honest I didn't hold out much hope for him a coupla weeks back. He started behaving oddly and I noticed that my ghost knife was beating him up and kicked him out of his house. A few mornings...

Tanks for posting. The dorsal & caudal are spotted which true multis and grandiops dont have. The body is very similar in colour and pattern (although perhaps a bit chunky) and hybrids are getting a lot closer to the genuine species now Thanks Richard I now know what to look for in real multis,...

Hybrid Multipunctata

Hi all. I bought this guy around 9 mths ago from my lfs as a tank bred multi (black barbels instead of white). He wasn't expensive around, £7 and when I got him he was only about 4-4.5cm in total. The guy in the shop is a really nice genuine guy and wouldn' try and pass something off as something it...

Re: My new little Synodontis

My LFS has loads of these and the colouring and pattern varies quite a bit. Some are fully yellow, others are half and half like this one and others are paler again (almost albino looking) with others a mixture of yellow, spots, orangey bits and dark bits. The lfs owner pointed me towards them as he...

Excellent
I've been waiting on my lfs getting some more as I'd like another 2 or 3 but they only had 1 when I got him.
He's a voracious eater, especially when I feed bloodworm, and he's great to watch zipping around snapping up all in his path.

many thanks

Is that the case? cheers Ian woodcat ...

Re: Fake Granulosis/White tip question

Apologies I put Hybrid 4 in my original post when I meant to put hybrid 6 (white tip synodontis). I take it these were cross bred commercially yet there appears to only be one keeper of this fish listed in the cat-e-log. Are they that uncommon? or is it just that people don't bother listing that the...

Fake Granulosis/White tip question

I bought a black syno about 4 months ago, and new at the time that it was a hybrid. It was listed in the shop as a Granulosis x, so I knew what I was buying, but couldn't help myself as it is such a lovely fish. I knew about the existence of fake grannies as I had read about them on here and just as...

Thanks Mats
I couldn't figure it out using the cat-e-log as I couldn't really tell the difference between the L018 pics and the L177 pics. They both looked the same. :))
I take it "sexing" will need to wait until the fish is a good bit bigger?

I know it's a Baryancistrus Xanthellus but wondered whether it was L018 or L177, as I was under the impression that they are very similar but different fish. The lfs just had it as a Golden Nugget plec. To be honest I don't care which it is as It's such a cracking fish, if not a bit shy, but when it...

He will be eating, you just don't see him doing it. They are most active at dawn and dusk, and hoover around looking for any bits and pieces lying around, most of which you can't see. Mine always come out to eat when I put in high protein granules and those small sinking pellets. Is he getting notic...

Brilliant Fish with big personalities. :d I would suggest making a "cave" or arch with a couple of pieces of bogwood, and you will be able to see him hang upside down in it, and he'll feel "safe". Feed him at the same time every day and he'll become used to the feeding regime. Mi...

If it's easy enough to use the mixing bowl set up, then why don't these scientists/breeders use the real mccoy? I would have thought that there would be more money to be made "culturing" the genuine article. Then again, there is obviously a demand for fish like the "custard cats"...

euptera x nigreta.
