Re: Do you actually find L236 in the wild ???

@gehandylan I think we bought them for the same reason, we love how they look. The only difference between us is that I like to spawn my fish. Due to space limitations Hypans are ideal for me. They don't give huge spawns and they are pretty easy to sell and they can be kept in relatively smaller ta...

Re: Abandoned Eggs L46

I see some dissolving bad eggs in there, but from that picture I can't tell if there are developing spines or eyes. If flashlights would put them off eggs, I would never have any fry, and I can assure you, that is just not the case ;). Barbie Thanks for your input. I will pay more attention to them...

Re: Abandoned Eggs L46

Hi Barbie, I'm pretty sure the eggs are fertilized. I've attached the photo. Please confirm from the picture. However, i'm convinced that the male must have been spooked with me inspecting the cave with a flashlight. Thanks for your input. http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af206/Mjfm_73/August2220...

Abandoned Eggs L46

My breeding group has spawned twice and they are in an 8 week cycle. However, I don't have anything to show for it. On the first spawn all the eggs got kicked out of the cave. Tried saving it after a couple of days but it was too late by the time i placed it in a fry saver. The second spawn happened...

Re: Hypancistrus sp."Mimic"

"NOW" I know what you mean by keep them separate and they will grow up to one of the most beautiful Hypancistrus species you have had... in my eyes they are more beautiful than H. zebra and they will be really black and white as adults. b-) Hi Saul, I guess I can hope that a possibility t...

Re: what are some good medications so have on hand?

I specialize in keeping and breeding wild type Discus and plecos. I normally treat them for about 3 weeks simultaneously with flubendazole, Praziquantel and metroniadozle. This is my way of establishing a known baseline as most exporters and importers begin a similar regime it is not usually long e...

Re: Unknown Hypancistrus sp. - Orinoco basin

Hi Saul,

Whatever they are send them to the cold North. I'm pretty sure the water here in Toronto will make them even whiter like snow. Joking aside, it looks good. It would be nice to find out from the expert what they are?

Cheers,
Marte

I like how the caves are facing in different directions. The Alpha Male can always pick the cave that he wants....Great Set up.

It would be appropriate for me to post these pictures here as this article in here inspired me to try and create a Rio Xingu Biotope: http://www.planetcatfish.com/shanesworld/shanesworld.php?article_id=387&title=Aquascaping+for+Hypancistrus+zebraThe+Perfectionist In the past 20 years I've kept f...

Re: Hypancistrus L450 - Santarem

Hi, please be careful - among some L 450, I can see some other variants. I think it is better to devide them. 1, 10, 9, 3 are very different to the typical L 450. Sorry to say. In Germany L 450, Hypancistrus sp "Lower Xingu" and Hypancistrus sp "Gurupa" are often mixed together....

Hypancistrus Identification

Hi,

I have recently acquired a few specimens. It was sold to me as Hypancistrus L066 - King Tiger. I seriously doubt that it is King tiger. I am leaning more towards L333's.

Re: L260 Sexing

Thank you Suckermouth and Jac. Jac, the pictures or your breeding group really shows the difference. The male having Gill Odontodes, Pictoral fin Odontodes and body being hairy. The shape of the face definitely has the V shape and the females have more or a U shape. Really appreciate it. What threw ...

L260 Sexing

Hello, Just a rookie here trying my best to find out the sex of my L260's. With my own untrained eye i tried my best to pick 3 females and 1 male. I'm not sure about that now. Picture was taken right after unpacking. They are much darker in colour now. Thank you, Marte http://i1008.photobucket.com/a...
