That small lepo is Leporinus granti (What's in a name...). They grow to about 10 cm with lovely bright red fins, we found them olmost everywhere. We did not catch any Leporinus maculatus, these species look alike only the maculatus grows to about 20 cm and it is allot less colorued.

Nope, all the fishes were released after they had their pictures taken. (Except some larger ones that were eaten by either us or the locals)

During the three weeks we were there we fished and filmed in various locations along the river and the creeks. We caught some very nice species and possibly even a new Bryconops...
