Plus, L-260/66 are usually found at pretty large sizes. Of all the hypancistrus that we import, they generally arrive much more mature than the rest. They are also among the easiest to find at retailers, and need less of a dramatic change to trigger.

The acrylic article is one of the best out there. Since the tank can be made from a single sheet of 4' X 8' acrylic, you may want to step up to 3/8". Paul is spot on that 1/4" is sufficient, but keep in mind that the additional thickness is a bit easier to work with. After working in 3/8&q...

With the competition and roughousing that the males can get into, I avoid as many sharp edges as possible. It is bad enough treating peduncle damage from tails whipping against cave openings. A few tips on raising the young... 1. Reduce the current. I eliminated my small powerhead, and the remaining current from the power filter alone is enough to encourage the adults to spawn. 2. Let the tank get dirty. I reduced water changes to 25%, once every two weeks. 3. Feed frozen collard greens....

Slow, slow, slow topping out around 6". 84-86F really perks up their appetites, and although it may not be obvious, might help the growth rate. Mine are over five years old and in that time have grown from two inches to six, where they have been for about a year.

Any Successes With L-204?

I've been working with them like L-134, temp and conductivity drops, no joy. Males are hanging out in the caves, but the ladies aren't showing much interest, or much gravidity for that matter. I believe that Janne had mentioned that he had a few. Anyone else?

The important issue is to get the fry into a rearing setup quickly. Once the yolk sac is gone, the fry will only last a day or two without appropriate feed. A neat tr...

I know that you are joking about time spent boiling vegetables, however, freezing them works just as well. Just keep a big ziploc of chunks in the freezer. I find that most types will hold up longer in the water as well, less mess.
