Help with LED lightning

Hey. I just ordered my new tank setup which include 3 tanks for plecos and 1 sump for plants and stuff. Main post in here http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=37131 Final measurements for the tanks are 160cm (63in) x 57cm (22in) x 25cm(10in) and from that 25cm, I will probably ...

Doesn't look like L66 to me. They don't have spots like this one.

Re: L46 Male or Female?????

Damn, should have answered after Larry. :) I was also looking at the head and wondered that I can't see any hair, even though the rest of the body was so triangle shaped.

Never thought they could get so skinny that they lose their bottom. :(

Re: New tank setup with trickle filter and biological filter

Got this one open question: - What should I do with the lines coming from the sump to the tank? Should I add some nozzle to make more circulation within the tank or make some plan to oxygenate the water when it comes. For example a glass wall from which it will just flow down back to the tank and le...

Re: New tank setup with trickle filter and biological filter

The plan is slowly taking shape. Some things sorting out, some things making more questions. :D I have changed the measurement of the tanks after negotiating with the manufacturer. There will be 3 tanks, 160cm / 63in wide 41cm / 15in deep 25cm / 10in high Lightning will be done with high output led ...

Re: New tank setup with trickle filter and biological filter

Yep, probably gonna use the glass lids that come with the tank. Maybe I will just ask to make them with bigger holes in the corners to make sure air will flow there.

Thats just a minor problem, tank size is a lot bigger. :)

Re: New tank setup with trickle filter and biological filter

Thanks Darrel. Filling the tanks to the max can be done like I did with my frytank. Used a glass at the end of the aquarium like in the picture. I don't say its a great solution, but it is a solution. :D But I do see your point in the deeper tank, it was also my original plan. Both have their advant...

Re: New tank setup with trickle filter and biological filter

Yep you are correct. I have seen setups where the space became a problem. And when I use alot of money for this, I wanna make sure it works. However only 15cm high tanks might allow me to use led-stripes as lightning. I previously calculated that the lightning would take atleast that 5cm space. Led-...

Re: New tank setup with trickle filter and biological filter

Might end up choosing door #4 and make 3x 6inch tall tanks and 1 tank 10 inch tall just incase I get some bigger fishes. :)

Re: New tank setup with trickle filter and biological filter

One of the main ideas of this was to get a way to separate breeding pairs easily. I'm pretty tired of the fighting. :) So I'm aiming to get only 1 male and x-number of females in every section of the tank (when adults). So in this case there would be max. 1m+3f in a tank section sized 40cm * 50cm * ...

Re: New tank setup with trickle filter and biological filter

I think I have the sump and everything else pretty well sorted out. But now I have one big thing I'm wondering: Is there any downside of making a tank only 6 inch / 15 cm high? My original plan was to make them 25cm high, but if I go for 15 cm I can get the aquariums alot cheaper + I could make 1 ex...

Re: New tank setup with trickle filter and biological filter

Thanks Darrel This was the reason I posted this here. I haven't made anything like this before. Never made a marine aquarium, sump, trickle filter or biological filter. Gonna give some though and google for plants in the filter. What I have heard about plants as oxygen generators is that they do mak...

New tank setup with trickle filter and biological filter

Though I'll paste my new plans here for you to comment. Still haven't decided anything for sure, but as I know figuring this all out will take time, I wanted to start early. So I'm going to make new tanks for plecos, gonna build tanks only 20-30 cm high that are divided in sections. Then I will sepa...

L46 male and 2 females?

Would like to know if these are males or females. My though was that 1 is male 2 and 3 are females.

Well thats true, if you wanna get rid of snails, forget the chemicals and other stuff. Use the fishes, they are much better.

Re: killer snails eating my L134 eggs?

I'm keeping Melanoides tuberculata in my tanks. I've only read from few books that they will only eat eggs when they are no good. Haven't seen them eating live ones even if our L134 dad kicked the eggs out.

Earthworm sticks

Anyone know a good place to buy earthworm sticks in Europe.

Only found http://www.ta-aquaculture.co.uk/

Are there other options and does anyone have any experience about that site?

Re: [identify] possible female L66?

I was thinkin about badly fed female because of the odontodal growth. The males we have, have huge hair in the gills and the finns, but this didn't have almost any. Atleast it's L66, so lets see how it plays out.

Thanks guys.

Sorry eyal but if you suggest that my 15cm hypancistrus is a L129 I need to say that it just can't be no matter what the pattern looks like. And I'm not only saying that it's L333, I'm saying what they can't be. I have seen many variations of L333, L66 and other similar looking plecos, just waiting ...

Re: Really a L333?

As far as I know these are F1's bred by a guy who imports fishes himself. I had my thoughts of these being L66 until I saw few of them myself. They just don't look alike. :) The base ain't that white and the stripes in the finns are not straight. It's impossible to measure, but few of those males lo...

Re: Really a L333?

Here is the male. Its around 15 cm long. Had another female before, it was as big as the males. They are definitely not L129, L260, L270 or L340 thats for sure. They all fall alot too short. L66 or L411 comes near, but they are both also a bit short and I've seen L66 juveniles and they don't look li...

Re: Really a L333?

Keep in mind that the kid was around 4cm long.

But anyways, I'll take some more pics from the group. Pattern from males and the female looks the same, only real difference is in the size. Males are alot bigger. And the males ofc have alot of hair.

The first is a juvenile from the second, so its definitely not L129 :) His dad is almost 15cm long. :)
I'll get some more pics when I get home.
