Re: Green Corydoras ID

Do you think they are young Corydoras aeneus - bronze/wild?
They look like bronze corys to me. The dark substrate makes corydoras aeneus go darker, meaning greener.

Re: White lump on Bronze Cory Fin

I noticed a white bump on its fin around the 15th. It looks kind of like a droplet of white school glue. On the 17th, the cory was upside down on the substrate and I thought it was dead until it wiggled away when I went to scoop it out. Your cory is not "dying" because of the lump. It's f...

Re: White lump on Bronze Cory Fin

All I can say is do not worry about it..... My corys have had the same thing on and off for the last 3-4 years. None of them died, none of them have had any side effects because of it. None of my other fish caught anything at all. It was suggested here to me it is because of too rich diet. I've star...

Re: Gold laser and albino corys interbreeding!!!

The little cory fry aren't growing as fast as when I used to raise cory fry before but I guess with one feeding a day, competing with a bunch of adult fish, it's the best they can do. TThey are lively though and I see them every day. There's 4 of them I think. They've gained some colour and look to ...

Re: C. sterbai infertile/fungused eggs

Cory eggs just need lots of flow blown at them. Containers with still water, even if it's extremely clean, isn't the best way to hatch them. The corys themselves lay eggs in high flow areas if there are some around the tank. After being laid, eggs change colour within 24 hrs if they are fertile. If ...

Re: Gold laser and albino corys interbreeding!!!

Well, there are more younger fry appearing in the tank. The adults must be really in the mood winter time. If all fry grow up I am going to have to move out fish from there. It's just a 15g tank and it's overstocked as it is, running on two small internal filters, stuffed with plants to the brim, bu...

Re: Gold laser and albino corys interbreeding!!!

Hey, the cory fry are growing. One has already lost all it's spotted pattern and is showing green coloration. So far they look exactly like the hybrids did at that stage. I am interested to see, what the fry have inherited from a hybrid mother crossed with her own type or even other aeneus. Is it go...

Re: Live tips to save cory eggs

Albino aeneus are not tough at all. They are quite inbred I think and the fry quite sensitive. Normal aeneus could be tough but I haven't kept any. The coloured ones you are seeing in the video are a cross between albino aeneus and gold laser corys. I don't know how fast pure gold lasers grow when f...

Re: Corydoras Panda swimming up and down glass

Hey. Ancistrus can be territorial. Mine is aggressive enough to push out a big common pleco 4 times its size out of the cucumber. I've seen it also charging and trying to smash a poor cory underneath. The more the cory tried to get out, the more the ancistrus pushed down. I raised mine from a fry an...

Re: Live tips to save cory eggs

I've never had trouble hatching tril eggs in the past, but I do have pretty high mortality in the first month or two. Hey. Good luck with the new batch. In relation to mortality, it's always due to water quality, overstocking and overfeeding the tank you raise them in. If 60 fry hatch, you won't be...

Re: Live tips to save cory eggs

I've never seen ramshorn snails eating corydoras eggs. Normally, when eggs are not viable they become extremely soft. If you happen to touch a "white" egg after a couple of days, it just melts away/dissolves in water. Viable eggs get dark and sort of hard and I've never seen neither my sna...

Re: 10 gallon cory question/problem

Hi, Generally it is normal for corydoras to have quiet time during the day, hiding in a bunch somewhere. But consistent hiding is mostly due to lack of cover in the tank. Looking at the pictures, yours is too bare. I know that we all have preferences how we want our tank to look and we treat aquariu...

Re: Housing laser cories

Thanks everyone. I've decided to get them and they are acclimating to my tank. At first they were not active at all, they just hid and sat on the substrate. After a few hours, they have started to explore and mimic the rummynose tetras a bit. I assume this is normal behaviour? And also, the pH fluc...

By the way, I just double checked what corys I have in that tank as I really haven't paid attention whatsoever when I was moving corys. The tank is a small tank of 60 litres. Re: Pygmy cory vs lava rock and cyclops.

I am pretty certain pygmy corys won't eat seed shrimp because larger corys I have didn't eat them. Corys don't eat any live shrimp, even baby cherry shrimp. I don't know about Cyclops, never had them. Pygmy corys spend their time in mid water so substrate is not an issue as much but they eat from th...

Corydoras Aeneus in unheated tank

Hey guys,

I was wondering how would corydoras aeneus do in an unheated tank? Temperature of the water doesn't drop below 20C all year, it's way higher in the summer. I have another unheated tank. The other occupants are shrimp that do well in low temps and platies that as far as I know do well too.

Re: C. Panda. Have Stopped Spawning

It was a good read. Well done with the pandas. It's hard to tell what caused them to stop breeding. It sounds as if you are taking very good care of them and there is no obvious reason. Some corys tend to be seasonal spawning wise. Mine tend to go nuts around this time of the year each year even if ...

I am a bit late answering this thread but anyway... I have a common pleco, possibly pardalis or a cross with disjunctivus. I've had him for over 5 years. He's now 12" but that's including his tail. He tends to grow steadily each year, rather than having a growth outburst and then slow down. I'd...

Thanks for the info Karsten. Good to know.

And yes, the "hybrids" are staying with me for life. They would have stayed even if they weren't hybrids.

I definitely think they may be fertile. Time will tell and a few attempts at a few eggs to confirm. I'll post here whatever the outcome.

SO, in regards to the Panda Cory dying, do you think maybe some species are just that much more sensitive to salt, Epsom or oceanic? Epsom salt is different. It's magnesium sulphate. Small amounts as for plants sake is perfectly fine and it gets used up not just by the plants but by various chemica...
