Re: Wild Caught Zebra Plecos

That’s not true is was perfectly legal to export these fishes from Brazil before the Positive List. Also, you can’t tell how many of the registered populations are captive bred. All mine are.

Re: Wild Caught Zebra Plecos

This makes no commercial sense. You can bred zebras (as fish go they are low fecundity and high tech) anywhere in the world but it’s easier where there is good water and transport links.

If they're not on the undernoted list, they're effectively banned.

Re: Cephalosilurus fowleri

If it's coming from Peru, it's not likely to be C. fowleri unless it's smuggled in which case it will be expensive.

Re: Last chance for L14?

For the record, large Scobinancistrus are not common enough to be regularly eaten. Fisherman know they're worth more to sell. Of course, Brazil is restricts the export of fishes to control what they see, loosely, as bio piracy. Habitat destruction is what will wipe these things out if/when the curre...

Updates have been made to the site where the SL was less than those recorded in the paper.

Re: How to identify L397s .....

L397 has a finely reticulated pattern on the snout and has rusty orangish red stripes. That combination will distinguish it from the others you mention.

Looks great, I've added it to my wishlist but it is not available in the UK until January - so I shall just have to ask for gift vouchers!

John will be a keynote speaker at next years' CSG convention - perhaps he will tell us something also of this species / research then.

Re: Corydoras unknown species

The "black venezuela" got mixed up as Shane, Don Kinyon and I were discussing a black C. aeneus type from the Venezuelan Llanos at the same time the black cory discussed here was being pushed internationally from European breeders around 2004 IIRC). The two got mixed up and the fish got called venez...
