From small about 1" per six months, more if lots of space and food. A 4x2x2 would be a fine home for one. What do you plan to keep it with?

Yes, what Eric said indeed. You've been a longtime companion on PlanetCatfish's journey too. I hope that doesn't end quite as soon as your fishkeeping endeavours and the few tanks you are reducing to sound fun.

It's a joy you're here! This looks like S. ocellifer to me. Might be farm raised, but the yellow fins tends towards a WC fish.

Near that area in Glasgow is a botanical garden that has a hothouse with some indoor ponds. There are MANY odd fish in that pond but you can't properly see them. Haven't been for a while but I do recall Oscars and Pacu. This isn't the first (loricariid) sighting in Scotland. The first was Hypostomus...

Different, but fixed! I am refactoring the whole site's use of scientific names following the change I made to get the tooltips working with modern approaches. Hopefully, I will finish that task over the next few days.

I've been working on this and I now think I've got the final (for the next 10 years! :-) version working. You can see it on the first page I've refreshed here: https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/recent_species_updates.php Will post again when this is rolled out across the whole site. Cheers, Jools

It'll be an amalgam of the most commonly photographed catfishes on the internet. Guessing Corys and Channel cats and, of course, artificial "imagination".

Re: on mouse over thumbnail not working again?

The tooltip code is some 20 years old. It was cutting edge then but is super clunky now. So, I've ripped it out and replaced it with the modern way of doing similar. In the forum, it's not finished yet, but at least we have the image back. There are about 20 other uses of tooltips outside of the for...

If you discount those familes, you're getting into the realms of species that have not been bred before. Or at best once or twice. Are you really sure none of them work for you?

Re: Advice Needed for Breeding Sterbai Corydoras

You don't normally need to do this but breeders of other families of fishes like characins for example keep males and females apart and then put them together. Reducing to one certain male is a good shout - having six is an unusual set-up. Honestly, try neglecting them for a few weeks then pick back...

Just on the lights, as I brought it up, agree with 8 hours, just not so bright or rather think about making it a little less sparse. I also have all sides of my tanks, except the front, covered.
