Bristlenose with White Spot - UK treatment - what's recommended today?

Just added a trio of common bristlenose catfish to the fish house, purchased locally, and put into a quarantine tank at 26 degrees C ph 7.0 NH3 0.02 ppm I was surprised, that within 2 days, one of the females laid in a cave, male has been guarding, and the eggs have now hatched. (still in cave with ...

Re: Dumped Large pl*co not feeding - Update Now Started!

I find that earth worm and Spiulina stick foods are invaluable in my pl*co keeping/breeding. I just don't remember the name of the of the distributor in the U.K. and don't know anything about the situation in Australia. In the USA there are two main distributors. Mainly it will be an aquaculture su...

Re: Dumped Large pl*co not feeding - Update Now Started!

That's great to here! i do hope this fish gets better what do you plan to do after it has been fully rehabilitated? He'll go back in my 6ftx2ftx2ft display tank with all the other large oddballs, that I've recently turned into a "Andys' large for life oddballs tank", and join the other Gi...

Re: Dumped Large pl*co not feeding

I don't like using chemicals in the fish house, un-neccessarily, I don't think it's internal worms. I just think it's an in-experienced fishkeeper that's been feeding flake to the rest of the tank, and the fish has just starved..... But thanks for the tip on sweet potatoe and garlic, (I use Garlic t...

Dumped Large Pleco not feeding - Update Now Started!

I've inherited a large pleco from my local vets, not in a very good state, it was dumped on them, they had it a few weeks, I suspect it wasn't feeding there either. It's very emaciated, hollow stomach, very lethargic, I did have it in my display tank with other Ls (L001s, Gibbiceps), but I've now re...

What "Pleco" is this?

When this "L" catfish was purchased it was described as a Blue-Eyed Catfish Pleco, I knew it wasn't a Blue-Eyed Parnaque, so didn't pay that much for it. It did have blue-ish pale eyes when much younger, but they have now changed. It's quite an orange-brown colour, as can be seen from phot...

Can you id this brown/gold markings "pleco"?

They were purchased cheaply as "plecos", but there are clearly not plecos or gibbiceps!

Einstein, Can you post a pick of your adults? they do not look like S. aureum from the shot above. -Shane This is what they were sold to me as, but I must admit, I'm still finding it difficult to indentify them. The breeding tanks in a difficult (quiet) location in the fish house, I'll see if I can...

Re: Breeding Royal Whiptail Catfish

hey there, There are a pair of these that i can buy off a private seller for a low price, but do u fink they'll breed? I'm gonna adjust water to their liking and the tankmates at the moment are just S.Nigriventris, maybe 1 S.eupterus later. Otherwise they'll be on for show only! I'd love to breed t...
