Hi Oli!

Spontanously I would say these are two different species.
What immediately strikes the eye is that the whiskers of fish1 are much shorter than these of fish2. Also the head shape of the darker fish looks a bit weird.

Ive seen big P.pardalis or something closely related at the Frankfurt Zoo...they are in a 12.000 litre paludarium with big Motoro rays and through the glass (which must be around 10 cm? thick) these plecos seem to be as big as the motoros diameter. Havent been there for a long time so I didnt check ...

I was referring to the Welsatlas 2 in which this blue eyed fish is identified as L137 Cochliodon sp.
Compared to the WA2 the PCF Cochliodon/Hypostomus IDs are a bit misleading

This fish is L137.

The others you picked up were likely Hypostomus (cf.) cochliodon from the Parana drainage. This blue eyed fish comes from Tapajos.

Khalid would have deserved a straight red card for his Ronaldo foul after 10 minutes or so...his bitching afterwards is totally rediculous. Everybody saw that the ref was bad...and hitting Figo with an elbow knowing that he'll drop is just plain stupid. I really hope England doesnt get to the final ...

Its quite common on German Bundesliga teams that most people dont expect anything from Brazilians during winter. This weather is kinda rediculous. When I mailed 10 days ago with my american buddy whos come over to watch a game I adviced for a winter hat and thick jacket as we had around 10°C just t...

Hi! Imo its not a problem here in Germany as most people that think of "spectacular" fish mean big ones. And looking at it theres just no real market for 40 cm Pseudacanthicus or what else here. Looking at it we got the largest breeding stock (from what I can tell) of L46, 236 and Belo Mon...

In the US, we're shown idiots waving Nazi flags and idiots who throw bananas at black athletes. That's what ESPN Sportcenter has been showing us. Some people won't go to the games because of it. Is that what you're referring to, Racoll? Amanda This stuff happened in Italy with Lazio Roma and is eve...

In Germany its impossible to see any other high class sport live at the stadiums. So football is the only thing as a result. And people who say motorracing is much more exiting, havent seen a great football game. I dont even consider motor"sports" sport, an event where the quality of the m...

Turushuki Catfish. Unusual but good community fish. Should be black. - Same guy a week later. Top fin not up yet. - So we pestered him till he flared his dorsal -- at least a bit. ^^ Corydoras barbodes. Not seen very often. Not a good survival rate. Experts - obviously This is a good example of how...

Hey folks! We returned Friday from San Jose and the trip was just awesome. This is the most beautiful country I`ve visited (and I have quite a good list I think). I think sitting this one out and checking back in a few months is the best to get them properly IDed.
Since we have "weird" schoutedeni - ornatipinnis - hybrids to chose from. :)

As for care you should use schoutedeni as a guide. There should be plenty of info on those.

Id say the dorsal looks like S.eupterus ...cant make out the head of the fish in your pic. Any chance for a better one?
That "scaleless part" I dont get as Synos dont have scales at all...

Check the FAQ (next to cool stuff) für how to link pics
