Re: My new fish - Spectracanthicus zuanoni

Hi Marc - Happy to help a bit if I can.
Your feeding plan sounds good - go with it.
I have no experience (or info that comes to mind) regarding spawning in this species. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

Re: My new fish - Spectracanthicus zuanoni

Hi Marc. Your feeding plan sounds good. The primary natural food for the species year round is detritus and a variety of algae (up to 65 species of single cell, multicellular and filamentous) comes in second for most of the year. Invertebrates (insect larvae; small crustaceans; some microinvertebrat...

Trichomycterus pascuali - Furniture

Hi - Under "Furniture" for this species it is noted: "In the wild found in small streams with a sand and rock bottom with no vegetation." This appears to be a default entry for many (if not all??) Trichomycterus spp. There are so many species and I did not check it out totally. In the original descr...

Hi all, If you want to get a little more of a look at the book use the link below. It is to a google books presentation and has a number of pages (including three covering some trichomycterids) available for viewing. As Silurus indicates it looks like a good one. Re: Satan’s Skeleton Revealed: 3-D imaging of the widemouth blindcat skull

Hi Eric, Sounds good to me. There are increasingly potential good materials on the net that may not qualify as a published source but are worth covering on the site (as you did). And, catfish science is catfish science wherever it might appear - ergo T&SN would be the place for them (in my opinion, ...

Re: Revision of the horseface loaches (Cobitidae, Acantopsis), with descriptions of three new species from Southeast Asi

Hi - My pleasure. Horsefaces have always been my favorite loach! When I had my store I always tried to have them in stock. I think that I may actually have to go out shortly and get some to swim (kind of) around in a tank.

Hi all. I am sure that there are some loach lovers frequenting PC, so the following should be of interest to certain parties. Hi again.
One more thing in regards to this paper: Don't overlook the supplementary files (especially numbers four and five). They contain some interesting information regarding taxonomy on a variety of catfishes.
