Re: What age did you start?

I started keeping fish when I was 12. Now 65 years later and about 100 tanks and 5 ponds I'm still at it.

Re: green dragon origins?

That I would also like to Know. I heard that they came from Germany and the first ones that I saw were at Fantastic Fins in Lavonia. They must have some albino in the back ground as my long fins always had pure all green fry until they got bred back to a daughter. They then have a few very white alb...

Re: Fry Die - Seeking advice...

What are you feeding them? They should not be fed until the yolk sac is absorbed. Tbe first food should be micro worms for the first few days to a week.

When I had a spawn some years ago I found the fry went for live baby brine shrimp as a first food in a bare bottom tank. I now have a new group that I hope will spawn soon.

Re: Dianema urostriatum showing signs of spawning

I would move the eggs to the plastic tub so they won't get eaten. They should hatch in about 4 days even if they fall of the leaf.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you raise fry. I had a successful spawning back in the 80's.

Re: C. Venezuelanus carrying 19 eggs??

I have found that Corydoras venezuelanus has very small eggs for a cory of it's size. That may account for the fact that they can carry so many at one time.

Re: Duplicareaus Breeding

Sand on the bottom does make a big difference for many cories. They truly prefer it. It seems to make the system healthier too as more fry survive when there is sand. At what age are your duplicareus starting to spawn? I have some in a tank with my panda cories and I am worried they may hybridize. ...

Thanks Marte. I'm sure it will not be long before many L numbers will be showing up with long fins and color mutations.

Re: Super Red Long Fin Pleco

Most people assumed that you had to cross a Super Red male with a Red Calico long fin female. Assuming that the Super Red was developed from Red Calicos That would give you all Calico fry the first generation. I crossed a Super Red male to a long finned Albino female. Being two unrelated color strai...

Re: Super Red Long Fin Pleco

You only have to go on Aquabid to see the majority will pay dearly for new colors and long fin mutations. It is all personal preference. I hate Parrot Cichlids.

Super Red Long Fin Pleco

A number of people have been trying to develop their own strain of Super Red Long Fin Plecos. I have possibly taken a different route and have a few pure red that I hope will breed soon. Here is one about 4 inches long.

What is the species of cory that are spawning? Many will spawn with just a cool tap water change and some with adding 50% RO. Some of mine also spawn with just putting in a few Alder Cones.

Re: corys and bushynose?

I keep a group of Aspidoras albater in my 15 gallon tanks with breeding trios of bushynose. I have lakeshore sand on the bottom and a few pieces of driftwood in the tanks as well as a spawning mop. After most water changes I pick about 25 or more eggs from the mop. The Aspidoras are too small to suc...

I wouldn't be without them as the majority of cories spawn all or half their eggs in mops.
