Corydoras fowleri not eating dry foods
I recently acquired 6 WC C. fowleri, they are big 3-4", probably adults. They dwarf my biggest adult sterbai. This might be the reason they are not eating the dry foods. I've tried NLS pellets and earth worm flakes, they show absolutely no interest. The only thing they've eaten are cherry shrim...

Re: The Amazing Duckweed Filter.
does anyone know what kind of duckweed is this? http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b83/xoddd/DSC00192.jpg Looks like what's commonly called frogbit. I use them in my tanks. They spread fast and I have to throw out handfuls during weekly water changes, but they are easy to control because of their la...

I use frogbit instead, it's much larger than duckweed so you can control it no problem and it doesn't get stuck in your fitler or tank decorations.

vid of my weitzmani spawning
Just wanted to share a vid of my recent weitzmani spawning activity. Didn't really have to do anything special, just had to move them to their own 20gal tank and they started spawning in the next 3 days. enjoy

Re: Are the Corys DONE breeding, or AREN'T they???
from my experience, a cory spawning session lasts a few hours, it's ok to retrieve the eggs during the spawning session if you're afraid they will be eaten. They'll get scared for a few minutes but will resume spawning. I do this with my pandas because they are vigorous egg eaters! I recently spawne...

Re: What to feed a Corydoras
My corys' staple food is NLS thera (garlic), I feed this every other day, the other days I feed HBH flakes, brime shrimp flakes, earthworm flakes and live white worms once a week. They go crazy for the live worms, they'll start digging and digging immediately. If your substrate isn't too thick, I th...

Re: grindle worms and white worms
Hi I dont have any problems with grindle worms at all as they are fed on hot baby cereal which puts a lot of vitamins into the worms, then into the fish, thats good for them to produce the eggs and good health, as for the white worm they are fed on white or brown bread that produces fat in the worms ...

Re: how to bring down tank temperature?
They do make aquarium fans that attach to the top rim of your tank. They aren't very expensive if you don't want to DIY a computer fan. Rather then putting ice cubes into the tank, most people float a frozen bottle of water in their tanks. This process last longer then ice cubes and you don't have t...

Re: No Barbels
I've also had problems with bare bottom tanks with barbel erosions aswell. I switched to a very fine gravel and thier barbels are all nice and long :D Aesthetically a fine gravel or sand is much more natural and your corys will enjoy digging in it. It doesn't need to be deep, mine is probably around...

How to prepare earthworms?
I would like to try feeding earthworms from my backyard to my corydoras and would like to know how to safely prepare them for feed? How do you drain their "guts", do I need to cut them into tiny pieces so it fits in the cory's mouthes? They seem rubbery.

I'm pretty sure in this case, it's genetic. I've had him for several years and it was always like this. My substrate is fine, since all my corys have long barbels, as you can see from this cory's barbels.

freshwater fairy shrimps for fry?
I recently found an ebay listing, I am not the seller, for freshwater fairy shrimp eggs. These are similar to brine shrimp but much easier to hatch, supposedly you just drop them intowater and wait a day for them to hatch, no airpump or salt needed. Anyone try this to feed cory fry? I bought them as "whitefin" corydoras if that helps. I don't think they are C. agassizii, the cory is not as pale as the pic shows but it's not as colourful as C. agassizii.

if you didn't mix up your nitrate and nitrite readings, then you should be concerned. A cycled tank should have zero nitrite readings and some nitrate reading. The nitrogen cycle is ammonia -> nitrite -> nitrate

Re: snail eaters
interesting, when I tore down my planted tank, that had plenty of snails, and switched to a mix cory tank, the snails eventually disappeared. I always assumed it was because of the corys efficiancy in eating all the food and therefore no leftovers for the snails.
