Can we have an update? Is this working or not? It looks like there are several pictures uploaded to your "My Fish" and "My Breeding Log", but I can't see WHEN they were uploaded.

Re: Rita in Auchenipterinae
[Wee footnote to Mats, where the subfamily exists as a genus, this doesn't quite work as expected. e.g. Loricariinae] I did notice that. Not sure what we should do there - they are not real, legitimate genuses, but at the same time, we use them as if they are, and "genus" has higher prior...

Re: Rita in Auchenipterinae
Have now sent a modified script to the repository for Jools to review and upload at some point. In R1432. This will remove any "subfamily" link that isn't correct. Once this script has been run (happens every Sunday at present, but it can be run manually by Jools), the four genera with pro...

Re: Rita in Auchenipterinae
Fix for the underlying problem in this case in R1431 ("don't keep the subfamily when wrong species is found"). I'm not sure if there are any other genera that are wrong, and I suspect it's not that easy to find out, but will have a look at updating the update-script to fix that. In the mea...

Re: Rita in Auchenipterinae
So, subfamily assignment is all automatic. I'm not sure what has caused this, but will try to figure out. Edit: I reset the data for the subfamily of the genus "Rita" in my local database and reran the script that updates the subfamily, I can reproduce the problem. I think it's caused by C...

Re: Panaque cochliodon and suttonorum teeth mistake
I personally think that sentence becomes quite useless if it only distinguishes the species from the Scobinancistrus subgenus.
My vote would be to remove that entire sentence.

Re: Label creator - Image
There is a "option" for each contributing photographer if they are "ok with use for labels" or not. And we do have plans to allow selection of images, but as both Jools and I are quite busy doing things like working, and it's not a trivial thing to do, it's probably not going to ...

Re: Question about most kept species
Hmm, I don't understand what's going on here. I will have a look at the code when I have time. Edit: Just scanned through the code, and the "title" of the section seem to not be the same as what it actually shows: It shows the most "hit" species (as in the species with most peiop...

I believe it is (aka L205). Sexing isn't very easy, but judging by the shape of the head, I'd guess a female.

I'd say "fat" = female. But it's still not a great photo for purposes of sexing the fish.

Yes, it's a colour variant. It will, given plenty of food and clean water, reach at least 6" in a year, and 12" in less than two years.

Re: Identification of Bristlenose
The first one may be a female. It has a little bit too much "stubble" for me to be sure. A photo from above or below would be better, since that will tell us the shape of the head and body - mainly after the proportion of body vs. head, as males have a head that is quite wide, and otherwis...

It is a Hypancistrus, so it will not grow very quickly.Stefan2013 wrote:I have a tendency to agree with you. I am a little concerned about its rate of growth as it seems very slow compared to my other plecos.

Re: What species?
There are clearly at least two different species in this lot. I can't see ANY that are saying "I'm a Peckoltia" in my view, and I'm 99% sure none of the fish are actualy Peckoltia vittata, and my feeling (but I can't say for sure, as, unfortunately, the pictures showing clear distinctions ...

It is indeed the intended functionality in "Old MS browsers". Maybe we could have a "nicer message", but I spent quite some time trying to make it work, and it's simply broken.

Good, that problem solved then... When you say "I don't get a map anywhere", does that mean "You expect to see a map, but there isn't one", or "It's not there, and I don't expect one" (the latter being the case with older versions of IE, but should work OK with a more r...

If you don't mind, can you raise a different thread for "search results" don't work. I found a bug to do with showing images in the search-result page, but that isn't giving the error you are reporting, so you probably need to give a bit more detail as to exactly what you have done (I rand...

I try my best to make it clear when I submit fixes that they don't go onto the site until Jools have checked that it "looks good". I'm perfectly happy with that, I don't want to be responsible for breaking things unnecessarily... ;) But it does mean that sometimes it takes a few hours or d...

Re: My cats page says I haven't registered any populations y
I think the changes that I made in R1387 will fix the "black image" problem. It turned out to be somewhat inconistent use of "my_fish" vs. "my_cats" vs "nothing" that caused problems (and because it's in the middle of a very long path, it was hard to spot took...
