Also, the fact that it was in the "what is my catfish" forum probably also meant I missed it.

This means that Shane's article on the identification of the giant moth cat isn't quite correct and may need to be either corrected or taken offline. What we _really_ need is either a CotM or maybe better yet a replacement article that deals with all moth cats pulling together a species by species ...

Gibbon is an ape, not a monkey. like the chimp, gorilla and urangutan. apes are baboons, meerkats, chapucins and the like  I know that! If we're going to be picky, the joke was inclusive of all primates as I was apeing the H. sapiens that sold the fish in the first place! You're being way too...

I'm not sure I want a thread about all this in my little online refuge, but I guess it's the speak easy and I guess its good to talk. It's been a particuarly unsettling couple of days so far. My wife Clare works in Stirling and her commute up the M9 yesterday was affected by the protestors, her plac...

maybe a fish with rasping pads for algae is in fact a specialised fish feeder that uses these pads to rasp away at dead fish (probably a considerable source of food in the deep water channels). And that's what Pseudacanthicus do; look at their teeth. this i would would consider to be prolific, but ...

OK, first thing here is that Peckoltia are omnivores, so they shouldn't be counted the same as Hypancistrus. Secondly, why would the fish have reduced dentition if it needed to rasp at algae etc? Thirdly, I don't remeber any analysis of H. zebra, but the description of H. inspector mentions gut anal...

CotM pages don't work
I know about this one and am working on it. I'm in the process of adding a facility that can directly link a species record to any given article (Shane's World, CotM or Book Reviews) and will result in a better link on the Cat-eLog page to the relevant article. i.e. It used to say there was an artic...
