Pleco sold as L-129 (but he is not)

Post by Krakozawr »

Hello!
I have this guy. He is definitely not L-129, but who he is?
My main version is Hypostomus mutucae LDA010 (now I think it's definitely not) or Hypostomus nematopterus L060 (looks very close), but I'm absolutely unsure about this.
Help please :)

Ii was on of the first versions, but take a look to a ventral side. Plecostomoides have spotted belly - http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/ima ... ge_id=2471, my haven't.

Plecostomoides have spotted belly... my haven't.
Young plecos do not tend to have belly pattern and squamation. They get this as they mature. Your fish is very small, so the comparison with a very mature fish is unjustified.

That said, it's not H. plecostomoides because the dentition does not match. Your fish is in Hypostomus sensu stricto, and H. plecostomoides is in the H. cochliodon group of wood eaters.

perhaps?

Based on export patterns, there is almost a zero percent probability that this fish is H. nematopterus.
