Identify supposed to be from Tanganyika

Post by juarez.john22 » Sun Nov 12, 2017 4:06 pm

I purchased these from San Diego, CA. Their supplier said they were wild caught from Lake tanganyika. No one has been able to ID. They are catfish but unknown as to what species. Any info or thoughts are appreciated.

As I tried to tell you on MFK ( https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/foru ... st-7839915 ), it is a Chrysichthys species. I'd not dare to call the species but I like Dave's call.

You have every right to. No problem. If there is any place I know of that could help you with the species ID, Planet Catfish would be it.

It's a large genus with many similar-looking species https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/ge ... d=153#2121.

As the datasheet linked by Dave states, the graueri inhabits specifically Lake Tanganyika.
