"panaque sp. vittata" ?

not my fish, just wanted to determin exactly what it was. Wild caught in peru and labled as Panaque sp. Vittata by the seller.

are these panaqulous maccus?

I can't be sure from the photo is too blurry. Doesn't look like P. maccus, but we would need better shots to be more sure.

Not a great photo, but certainly not P. maccus. P. maccus is not found much south of the Rio Apure where it is replaced by LDA 68. Peru would be way out of its range.

i asked the seller if he had any better pictures but he didn't.

is it more likely a peckoltia or a panaqolus?

i see L206 and L226 are listed as panaqolus from peru at http://www.transfish.de. could it be one of them? The pic of l206 does look lind of similar?

It is rather though to say. Have you a better pic. especially showing the head region.
Have you ask the seller under what name he bouight it and from where. You may then ask the wholesaler to have more information.
While speaking once with Jon Armbruster, he told me that basically every mid- big size rivers have certainly its owns species of a dwarf Panaque species ( Panaqolus) . Many are very look a like.

i asked the seller i fhe new what river they were caught from and he didn't know so i guess identification is almost impossible. Thanks for the help in trying to identify it.
