Second clue makes me thing it's Corydoras spectabilis, but I'm probably wrong... If I'm right, I'd better set an easy one, as I have little (if I even bring a laptop) contact with the 'net for the weekend.

Good guess but, F9 not F9 so not a hexadecimal number. Your day job must be in software ? :-)
Carp37 wrote:Ancistrus ranunculus medusa pl*co?

F9 is the 9th Fibonacci number = 34.
Medusa was a goddess who petrified people (turned them to stone).
Ancistrus ranunculus = L034 = Medusa Pleco

Your turn Carp37 :-)

If you'd like to offer up a new fish, that's okay with me and we'll slip carp37 in when he shows up.

I was refering to a new puzzle, but I may have been too hasty. Anyway, let Carp do it. I find my own puzzles quite boring for I already know the answer

Oh ya...good save, we are both right, I would think yours would be tougher to collect and care for.

Okay this may keep you busy...getting back to Scoloplax... what family was Scoloplax dicra, which is the type species, first placed into.

When first recorded yes... Bunocephalus sp.-Lundberg and Baskin(1969) and then Scoloplax dicra when described in 1976 was provisionally placed in Loricariidae before Scoloplacidae

Okay where is Carp37?
