Juwel 125

Post by JamesFish »

Hi All,

The most demanding and time consuming tank I own. My platys are currently making short work of my new live plant attempts again.

3 females 2 males the females are due to drop again. They are a pain for doing so many fry but wont be taking a effort to catch any this time. Red wags do nothing but eat all day. None lost they seem happy and are doing 5-15cm poops so dont think they are backed up.

Well its been a while and I think the tank now looks better. Its all live plant now and most of its been alive over a month. For me this is good!, using a cheap CO2 kit you squirt in manually every day and so far till today its been interpet flora boast. I've switched to fluval lush plants as its allot cheaper. Interpet was £5 for 100ml and it took about 1/3 a bottle a week in dose. Fluval is £10 for a 250ml bottle and it takes 15ml to dose so allot cheaper long run.

Contents of the tank.

5 marble hatchets
6 Harliquins
5 Rummy nose
1 Neon dwarf Rainbow (Swine wont colour up correctly no matter what I do, marked for exit to LFS in future)
1 clown loach (Marked for exit to LFS)
1 Octoclinclus (2 given away and 1 lost since last post, remaining one marked to transfer to where his friends went)
4 red wag platties
4 Guppies
3 peppar corydora (Marked for move to 2ft)
2 Bronze corydora (Marked for move to 2ft)
1 Porthole catfish (Needs a friend on my shopping list)
1 khuli loach guys so old I think he might actually be robotic by now.
1 chain loach
1 female ancistrus called pebbles

Don't think I've missed anyone but could be wrong allot in the tank. Filters are the standard juwel and an Eheim 2010 picking up most the crap.

Live plants that I know the names of...
Twisted Vallis
Gaint Vallis
Anubis nana

The rest I'm sorry I cant remember but everything so far has taken the kabomba has only been in 2 weeks but I'm hopefully it might take.

Looking back on this not done so well with the live plant but its live and learn.

Got a nice half moon betta waiting to come down once I get the little sod to accept flake and 2 more pygmy loaches to keep the lonely one company.

Stock
5 marble hatchet
4 rummy nose
6 harliquins
1 rasbora - Don't ask a very failed attempt to introduce a group of galaxy rasbora
1 ancstrus - AKA pebbles
5 red wags
5 guppies
1 porthole catfish
1 clown loach
1 chain loach
1 khuli loach
1 Octoclinclus

The rainbow moved as the problem wasn't his colouring but the light washing it all out.

Worst plants bought giant vallis and cambomba one gets huge the other clogs everything as it falls apart.

Well apparently I have forgotten to do any updates.

Fish stock has changed due to 3ft taking the more social groups and some fish I haven't liked or got along being rehomed.

Current stock
3x balloon molly
3x marble hatchets (2 lost due to jump 1 hit the lid hard) - Lovely fish but pain to keep in tank
1x ancistrus - yes its still pebbles
4x bronze cory
3x peppared cory
2x honey comb catfish (working on getting more)
4x guppy
3x gurami dwarf honey
1x port hole
4x ammano shrimp

Filter is now just a jbl e701 with an eheim prefilter attached

Last picture I took.
