The Amazon and some of its tributaries, called "whitewater" rivers, bear rich sediments and hydrobiological elements. The blackwater and clearwater rivers, such as the Negro, Tapajós, and Xingu have clear or dark water with few nutrients and little sediment. The Xingu is crystal clear and carries little in the way of sediment.

TTA,

Have you a source for this? Would be interesting to find the detail (such as it is)?

Cheers,

The global median temperature is estimated to rise 5.1*C by 2100.
The estimates range between 5.0*C and 7.0*C.
Info per an M.I.T study.
I recommend pleco lovers invest in air conditioning and captive breeding programs.
Enjoy them as best you can while we can still survive on this island we call earth.
The Amazon rainforest could well be gone before the end of this century.

At the end of this century I will be about 150. Unfortunately, I will be here to see zebras gone from the wild I fear.
