I have been searching this site for information on ich
One of my hoplos has a white glob on the end of it;s pectorl barb .I caught and removed the white blob and the spine was bare .Can this be ich .
I have not seen any of the minnows in the tank affected
Thanks for any info.

Doesn't sound like Ich. Ich is small white spots, like as if you put baking flour in a salt shaker and gently shake a little bit on the fish.

It sounds more like a fungal or bacterial infection.

It sounds like a fungal infection set in to an area of damage on the barbel (it could be bacterial as Mats points out though).

I don't know what brands of meds are available in your neck of the woods though, in order to advise...

In instances like this a picture really helps as better diagnosis can lead to quicker, more accurate advice leading to a quicker cure.

I did what I should have done in the first place .I loaded the fish in a small cooler and took him to a fish keeper I know ,He agrees with you and sold me some meds. for treatment of all my tanks.
