L134 lepord frogs fighting

i have brought 3 l134's from maidenhead aquatics 2 days ago... ( they was kept together in the shop for 2 years)

i got 2 females 1 male

i turn off the main tank lights.. and have just the room light on... within 5mins the 2 females are fighting... they fight from 1 side the tank all way to the other...

they are doing some hard bashing.. and sometimes they are in the middle of the tank swiming.. and looks like they trying to bite each other.. silly as it sounds..

can any1 else relate to this?

How many caves do you have? Also, are you SURE the females are females? Many loricariids do fight, I think someone has a video of P. compta fighting.

yes i have over 12 cavs.. lots places to choose from... they ws in a tank at the fishshop.. like so small it was unreal... but now they fight badly :O

paid 44£ each for 7cm of lepord frog.. such a good deal for me!

yes defntly 2 females the male just hides

maybe the one female is jealous of the way the other is lookin' at her man!

all joking aside, fighting in my tanks with plecos typically happens with males only, I have yet to see females fight. Do you have pictures of each individual fish? It seems like you have plenty of caves if there are only 3 plecos and 12 caves.

I've seen fighting amongst females of several different species, and genera, and this really doesn't sound that uncommon. They're simply trying to establish who is the dominant fish in a new territory. Yes, even females have a hierarchy and the change in surroundings means they have to reestablish that.

I guessed as much from the location and the price. I am interested in the statement they had been in the shop for 2 years as although they had some the weekend just gone there have certainly been periods within the last 2 years where they have had none (unless they were tucked away in a display tank??)

they have been in there for a long time... they was in there when they had the gold nuggets in the big display tank.. of which my friend has them now

he has moved them from tank to tank every 7 months or so!

44$ each is a absolute bargin... geting 3 more of my mate... then am going down to sweet knwole aquatics n swithch some.. as he has 7 him self

Yes pretty local- in Warwick currently and used to be in Stratford. I was in MA Stratford on saturday lunchtime & know Sweet Knowle very well.

sweet knowle aquatics is where im going to do some swaps.. if u been in ther recetntly.. u may of seen my cw023 (gold stripe corydoas) fry! he got about 70+ of mine

I have raised over 1000 Peckoltia compta from many different breeding specimens but I have never seen any of my females fight.
I have seen a couple males get into a fur ball though.
Of course just because I have never seen the females fight doesn't mean that they may.
Most commonly I have seen females with scrapes on their bodies as the breeders sometimes get rough with each other
