Those who listened to my talk at the CSG Convention in March might recall I was trying to crack my 10th genera of catfish for the breeders award programme, after being stuck on 9 for the last 2 years.
I included a slide of my L038 which had been trapping for months but no success but which I guessed would get me my gold award. Well in the meantime, I got a spawning from my Centromochlus romani which made up the 10 genera and then a week later the Peckoltia finally spawned - like waiting for a bus!
I decided to remove the eggs, after experience with panaqolus males who eat all their spawn, but I needn't have worried, because the male was doing a great job and they were close to hatching. At least it's given me the chance to take some pics as they develop.
24 youngsters hatched which are doing fine after a week. Here's a few pics.
Next post is of 5 and 7 day old fry.
Cheers,
Mark.
