Post by emma09 »

Hi there,

So my male peppermint bristlenose has some white patches that aren't meant to be there (I don't think), can someone tell me what's wrong with him and what I can do to fix it please!!? He is eating fine and generally seeming fine.

Tank-70litre
Water-ph 7.4, ammonia .0ppm, nitrites .0ppm, nitrates .0ppm
1xpeppermint bristlenose
1xmale guppy
1xapple snail
40% water change/gravel vac per week, 20% water change/gravel vac mid week (sometimes mid week gets missed but not often)
Seachem Flourite substrate
Valisneria, foxtail and Amazon sword
Driftwood and gold vine

Difficult to determine based on your pics. Closer photos will help.

I'll do my best, he's not the biggest fan of being photographed :-) if you can zoom in its easier to see.

Emma it is really impossible to see from the picture, but are the spots "raised" or "furry"? Knowing if the tank is cycled would be a great place to start, as would whether there was any ammonia or nitrite present. How long had the tank been set up? That sticky at the top of the forum asks for a lot of information so that we'll have a better idea of how to help you.
