Need help sexing my new Bristle nose Pleco

Post by CarbonEarth »

I recently bought my second Bristle Nose pleco the other day and I was told it was a female. This was good news as I was hoping to eventually breed her with my male. I've read a lot of conflicting information about sexing them so I didn't question the person who sold it to me. What do you guys think? I'm fairly certain my chocolate Bristle Nose is a male due to its larger Bristles but I'm just not sure about the albino.

Yes your brown is a male. And the albino is a great looking... Male. Sorry friend.

Here is a good picture to help you compare the difference between a male and female common bristlenose, regardless of whether they're brown or albino:

Thanks for your response. The female in the link you sent is more what I was expecting went I went down to the store. I was skeptical when I bought.. him..but the owner seemed sure of it.
I noticed some what seemed like territorial behavior when I introduced them as well. OH well, should have gone with my instincts. thanks again!
