L333 or L066 ?

Post by Merciless »

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help identify this pleco. From looking at the tail it looks like a l066, but the color looks more like a L333. Also wanting to know if it is a male or female.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe female, but it looks too small to sex reliably from these photos. How long is this fish, excluding the tail?

What about that paper from 2016 which concluded that 333 and 66 are the same species?

Yes, they may be the same species, but that doesn't rule out the prospect that they are different color morphs within one species (just like humans with different skin color).
