Trilineatus/Paleatus temperature question - Is this reality?

Post by AntonioAG »

I had red the Corydoras Trilineatus profile here on planet catfish a while ago but never thought much about the fact that they can supposedly be kept as "low" as 16 Celsius. The little detail is just starting to pop back again in my head... Is this true? Does anyone here have experience with trilineatus and low temperatures? Are they similar to Corydoras Paleatus in the sense that they can take water below the book temperatures relatively well? I see they are from Peru (unlike Paleatus which is from North Argentina) so I am not really sure if they can take cooler water well.

I have had my Paleatus in 55*f water many times as well as my Trilineatus, so I am gonna say yes they will be ok. The only reason that happened to me was because I forgot to plug the heaters back in after water change.

C paleatus even come from south Uruguay - that is the same longtitude as Buenos Aires. I once heard paleatus can survive a winter under ice, that is 4 C, but mine have only had 5 winters of 5 C

Can´t say anything about trilineatus though.

Not really sure but my C.Trilineatus are in 68-70* water as we speak and they are going just fine.
