Pictus, Pimpictus - Pimelodus pictus

Hi ppl

in the Cat - Elog it says there is 2 types of pictus cats!
it gives a size 4 one but not the other (the bigger S.P)
is there mutch diff in the max size of them both?

They're about the same IME. The "report" is in Sands COTW series I think but I've not really noticed this myself.

the cat Elog says spotted pictus get the same size, but there is a whopper in 1 of the pics?


i cant find the 3line in the cat Elog :(

Maybe he means this particular Pimelodus pictus:

a big pim pictus
it looks big alright, but maybe it's just a healthy fully grown 6"er?

now that we're talking about these, I'm curious. once there also was "Pimelodus clarias", wich looked a LOT like an oversized Pim pictus, except more bland when adult; youngsters were almost impossible to distinguish from P pictus.
a synonym of P blochii now?

but this guy looks a bit bigger

Yup, that's correct. I happen to know that one was kept in a large pond, but it is clear about 8" sl. I will change the cat-elog. Thanks for pointing it out.
