Syno Multis??

Post by Mrsomethingfishy »

Hello everyone. New member, but I am familiar with this site and all the info you guys have compiled and made available. I am recently back into the hobby and have started where my heart has been since I left...Synodontis and cichlids. Haha. Please let me know if you guys think I have genuine multi's or not. Thanks
P.s. I dont know which photos are which..i will try to label after posting. 5 "multi" and one that was marked hybrid in store. Thanks

Sorry about pic quality. They're moving like crazy. Think pic #1 and 2 are same fish.

I was thinking the same because of their huge eyes. They're in a quarantine set up for now...but I am going to try to get some better pictures tonight

Here is a pic of the one I know was labelled synodontis hybrid at the LFS..had so much personality and I know I can stick it into a tank without any other synos after quarantine. Lots of character in this one

I jus got this pic tonight. Jus moved them into bigger tank and they've really started to move around and be active. Definitely starting to notice differences between the separate "groups" I bought. This is 1 of 3 of the larger ones. I will try to get some better pics as the water clears up.

Can anyone see how many I have now? Lol this was during a deep clean of my substrate and 30% water change. That is why they're stressed out looking and huddled together like this...not how they're usually. I went to a local breeders place to pick up some aulonocara baenschi females for my tank....and he ended up having a tank full of baby multi's that he is growing out for sale...also both lucipinnis and real petricola. I couldn't resist...as he wouldn't sell me any multipunctatus, I bought a trio of petricola for my next tank..which will be cycled and started next month. For now the 5 "multipunctatus"(as I've yet to get a confirmation on their species), 1 hybrid, and 3 petricola share their tank peacefully. Well, only one who isn't perfectly behaved is the hybrid. I've told my girl that if he continues to be aggressive he will be rehomed

Hahaha sorry Jools...I was meaning to say Birger. I have read an abundance of information from both of you guys and I understand it's hard to identify species with crappy pictures that never show the areas you need to properly identify

Well i plan on making a thread on my synos. I jus grew my pack of petricola to 7..and my multis are at 6. Ive been looking to rehome the hybrid ny girlfriend purchased for me. He/she is a demon..very aggressive towards all the synos that are same size.

Going to be taking a bunch more pictures of the petricola as i am interested in figuring out if theyre indeed legit. I do believe they are tho, as i got from a private breeder and he has both petricola and lucipinnis

Ok. Thanks for confirmation. Did you see the one with the picture of pectoral rays? Were you able t see them good enough? I am going to be trying to get some better pictures of each one, labelled and seperated. But if that one looks like grandiops, then 3 are indeed same.
