If you look at the listed size of Auchenoglanis occidentalis and then you look at the fourth picture you will see some very smal children.

Or is the listed size not correct?

I tend to agree. Maybe 100cm SL?

I'd say the fish in the picture 4 is abour 80cm SL.

To be honest I think at the time I was not sure where to place this fish, I think it was placed by location, seem to remember being told the picture was from the Chad basin or the Senegal...not really certain at the moment, mind you many of the fish are the same in the rivers from Chad Basin to the Senegal, but I thought it would be another species otherwise(on looks alone)

the color of the barbels and pattern is different than the other fish on the data page..I am quite sure the others are occidentalis.

The biggest A. occidentalis I know is about 70 cm. I´ve never heard of one being 100 cm.

I have seen wittei's in this size range as well; in public aquariums

that was back when I thought they were all one species, mind
but they were the "common Giraffenose" with the reticulated pattern and the vague eyespots on the sides.

OK, well that fish in the picture is more than 700mm SL IMHO, but maybe not much more. Let's put a new SL in of 800mm?
