Did you know fantastic help is an anagram of Planet Catfish? This forum is for those of you with pictures of your catfish who are looking for help identifying them. There are many here to help and a firm ID is the first step towards keeping your catfish in the best conditions.
The chain pet store said this is a pictus cat. But all the information I find say pictus get about 4 to 4-1/2 inches. This one is 9" now. I've poured through the wonderful pictures and information on this site but I cannot identify him/her. Any help is appreciated! Thank you in advance.
Welcome TerriM ! Beautiful blochii you got there. That is, likely blochii. If you'd like to learn more on its ID-ing details, see my post in this thread (3rd post: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=35563&hilit=+blochii) and the links from there on. Of course, make the best of the info for this fish in Cat-eLog too.
Pictus and blochii look a bit alike but are very easy to tell apart.

The mouth is almost the full width of the head, and height may be almost half the height of the head - I'd call that pretty big. And yes the mouth stays in proportion to the size of the fish when it grows larger, so it may well end up being about an inch or more wide when it reaches 10".
