hello there :-b

I'm from Povoa de Varzim, it is a city (and a nation \:d/) in Northern Portugal. Maybe the reason why I love fish (and invertebrates), is because they have been always part of my everyday life. Despite my desire for a temperate saltwater aquarium, the diversity, easiness and exoticism of these tropical freshwater fishes hooked me up. The fist time I saw a loricarid i was in love by these alien-like animals.

Already visited this site a lot, because of reliable and well structured profiles from loads of catfish, used it to ID my catfish. Certainly the best catfish portal on the net. Congrats.

I love cichlids, loricarids, regular catfish, eel-like fish and mollusks. :d

Just a thought and probably many have noticed Central America and South America lumped together and have mentioned the following.

Central America is an area of NORTH AMERICA.

Crazy as it may seem but North America ends in Panama. Even Trinidad is part of North America.

If they have, you're the first to mention it. What I meant at the time was USA & Canada (as any Central Americans would stand out more if added in with the South Americans). That said, it does make sense to follow the continental model as the other poll categories do.

I'll change it.

Of course there are many ways to define "North America:" geography, hydrology, language, militarily, political boundaries, etc. Many accept that North America ends at the narrows of Tehuantepec, Mexico. The subcontinent of Central America is everything south of the narrows and north of the Isthmus of Panama.

Many English speakers consider Central America part of North America (geographically) while in much of Latin America the Americas are believed to be one continent.

Harsh for the "unaffected? people"I think most of us sleep and work inbetween visits I know I would be upset to have my account post deleted maybe I'm lucky to be able to sleep type the night away inbetween catfish watching on some fifteen forums and raise 3 children and breed fish, frogs, turtles, shrimp, snails, dog walks, feed and love the cat, feed and clean up after the old lady,..and what if someone ends up hurt or in a coma ...then wakes up or logs on to find they been booted? ..not fair in my opinion; imagine the feeling of rejection.. might make some not want to follow any more.. may as well meet up and fit the five leaders left after weedling out who hadn't posted for forty five seconds?...in a coffee shop and get rid of the computer?
keep us all please :d ^:)^

Hi Susan,

Not least to say the site is run out of Scotland! Although it is very international and that's a very good thing in my books.

We do not remove people who have posted at least once. The only way to end up removed after posting is to post spam, which automatically gets deleted after 100 days [we move it to a hidden forum first, just in case our judgement of what is spam is wrong, and the decision is overturned]. If you don't post spam, one post is enough to keep your account alive for as long as Planet Catfish has a forum.

And spam is the reason we remove users at all: We don't want to grow a huge number of spammers names on the memberlist. Unfortunately, someone with zero posts that isn't a spammmer will also get removed - if the member has been registered for quite some time, and has no posts, the account is removed - we can't really tell the difference between a legitimate user that has not posted, and someone who has posted spam and the post was removed...

I think there is a suggestion to not remove users that have registered my cats/my aquaria/my blog.

OK, another vote for North America. specifically, New England - Connecticut.

I have not posted in the two years I have been a member, this makes my first. I am disabled and have memory problems so remembering names is almost non-existent. It also keeps me from posting much. I will try to post more often and be a part of this community instead of being an onlooker.

Surprisingly my fish survived Hurricane Irene and the lack of power. I was quite worried for their sake and lucky for me they were able to tolerate the ordeal well.

As someone that eats catfish, it is strange that I also keep some! Unfortunately I cannot keep the ones I fish for as I have nothing large enough to keep them in so I stay to the smaller pleco varieties.I keep none of the expensive exotics at this time and no idea if or when I might. Anything is possible I suppose.
Nice to meet everyone and hope to make friends here.

Take care.

P.S. A special thanks to Jools for fixing my account problems!
