Hi,
After getting loads of information from this forum, it's getting time to make some posts here! :beardy:

Me and my girlfriend are trying to make a documentary about breeding the L201, The Hypancistrus contradens.
I still call them Hypancistrus inspector, i guess somebody can tell me what the confusion is all about?

What we have at this time, is one group of 3 adults l201, one group of at least 20 juveniles from the first spawning. And for two days, we have a new spawning, and lots of eggs in the cave.
We will try to record the eggs every day, and the little fish for a month or two.

untill that time i can show some clips of what is already recorded :

Starting of spawning : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=158MzOUT0C4
Later that evening more getting together : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goSAvYV0mao
And the result the next day EGGS !! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7vMA6w6bjQ

that's great! Love the music with the videos, beautiful fish and nice shots! I love the teeny weenie one hanging out in the first video and the other small ones in the mix in the other videos! The first one where the female comes back towards the end and exits real fast!!

There has been a suggestion that this is Hypancistrus contradens and not Hypancistrus Inspector

Anyway... they "having a good time"

Freddie Mercury would be proud.

These are contradens, I believe, not 201 or inspector.

This is the L201, I think the official name is Contradens, but the most common name in the fish stores is still Inspector. So that's why we still call it Inspector, but maybe we should rename them!
More reply's are welcome about the name of this L201.

We also made another movie, this time of the youngsters at 1 month old. It's feeding-time, so they come hurrying from every corner towards the food.

Enjoy!

201 are different from contradens. Contradens is what one might attribute to the previously unnamed hypancistrus sp. "rio venturi".

Hi, The breeders are about 9 cm, total lenght.

The young fish are doing great, it looks like they are now growing slower (lenght) but they are getting bigger, and looking very healty.
